Mark hit Kal Lk a bit earlier today, along with his buddy Jason. I suggested he tried fishing it a bit earlier as that's when I had the best luck and the advice did pay off! Mark jigged up this (photo) biggen with a white Buzz Bomb down at 120'. He caught this fish even before Jason could get his line into the water! Jay's best fish for Kal was a big Pike Minnow, also caught jigging.
From here the boys went over to Wood to give it a try. Pretty decent fishing on Wood, Jay managed another Pike Minnow and jigged up a nice 15' Kok! They took 3 kokanee using a spinner while jigging and one other on the rigger. Nothing wrong with the kind of fishing, looks like Wood is the place to go! Thanks guys!

Mark and Jen did another trip onto Kal, those big Lakers have them mesmerized! They tried the spots that proved successful last time out but this time, the big fellas wanted nothing to do with them. They even tried flasher stuff but nothing interested, that's Kal! Thanks guys, nice to see someone getting out onto this lake. I'm still waiting on that gate opening up, saw a service down there yesterday so maybe it'll open up earlier???

Mark did another trip to the lake, hooked on those big lakers! They tried jigging first off, no takers. After a while they gave up on that and took to trolling and were rewarded with a huge pike minnow! Good job guys, its still a fish! Thanks for the report Mark!

Mark and Jen made a trip out on Kal Lk., taking along some of their new found knowledge from the web site. They got into fish on Shuswap the last time they were out so now wanted to try for some BIG fish. They got some!
They started out with trolling and putting on a ton of gear, all to no avail. However, they were marking fish on the bottom in that "hot spot" north of Kekuli Bay so figured they'd have nothing to lose by trying a little jigging. It paid off!
I have to admit that they kicked my butt on this lake in the jigging department, I have yet to catch a fish by jigging here. A big white Buzz Bomb was the ticket for Marks (photo) big fish, as was this (photo) one that Jen brought in. They then took one more smaller laker on a chrome Buzz Bomb and the story for the trip is they took one more that was bigger than all of them! The problem they had was the small fly fishing net that they were using. Mark managed to get his hand around the tail but, did not have a fishing glove on. Unfortunately the tail slipped through his hand and the biggen was gone!
Sounds like another great trip Mark and Jen, you guys are doing very well. It should be noted, for you scardey cats of the weather, these two are fishing out of a small Zodiac! Just goes to show you that when one method isn't working, change tactics and try something totally different. This trip of theirs is proof positive that that theory can work! Thanks for the report, great fishing and great pics, good on ya!!

I'd like to welcome a new angler to the site, Jay Vanherwaarden moved to the Kelowna area about 7 months ago and has been testing our waters! He tried out one of my favorite laker lakes and came up with a real hog of a fish! This (photo) beaut took a Lyman plug down a 120' near Turtle Head Pt, measuring 33" x 21" , nice fish! Great way to start the new year Jay, welcome to the site and thanks for the report and pic!

Boy, here's an unused section for the year! There just didn't seem to be enough time to get over to Kal and go for my big lakers but, the Sharp Crew made it over!
They report a very chilllllllllllllly day out on Kal, the boat launching sucked as everything was closed except for the rinky dinky launch over on West Kal Rd.. I have no idea what they can't keep the one at the Alexander Pub open, other than they were having some squabbles with one of the residents there. Anyways, John and Donna got started about 1000 and had nothing until 1:00 PM when this (photo) big beaut hit a swim-bait down at 110' in the Kekuli Bay area. That was it for the day but when you get a fish that size usually one makes up for anything else you might get.
Great effort folks, not many out there fishing this time of year and in the cold weather we have, must be nice to have that hardtop Harbercraft!! Merry Xmas to you both!
