Kalamalka-Wood Lake Reports 2012

February 11 2012

Mark and Jen did a trip to my fav Laker spot and got into some decent action, here's their report:

Hello Sherm,
On Saturday Jen and I headed out for the afternoon to Kal Lake in search of the elusive 30 pound Laker. What a day; sunny and glassy. We went out to the point north of Kekuli and stopped in about 115 to 130 feet of water. With perfect jigging conditions we busted out the Buzz Bombs. We plugged away for about and hour until Jen pulled up (photo) a really beauty, I am guessing somewhere in the high teens. Shortly afterward I had a great strike and shortly broke off what I am guessing was a real nice one. One more solid strike and a short tussle and Jen lost another. Not bad for two and a half hours fishing. Three hook ups, one to the boat, one broken off and one that got away. Looks like the winter Laker action on Kal is on. Cheers.

Thanks for the report and pic folks, nice fish Jen!  If there's one way or the best way to catch Laker's its on the jig, then you'll see the power they have.  Mark also passed on that they were using the all white Buzz Bomb and also the whi/grn blow Buzz Bomb in the wide models.
