(Carbon What?? - Continued P.2)

......them said they would change any of their lifestyle habits.  Imagine that, you've got an extra couple mill in the bank and as a result you really don't give a fat rats rear what the price of gas goes to.  Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, is that wrong?  Soooooooooo, the guy with that big Fountain boat at the launch the other day, he doesn't care that he'll burn up 500 gallons in a day?  Realllllllllllyyyyyyy!  But the Gov't wants me to get rid of my Mazda???  Something ain't right here folks!

Soooooooooo, I won't even get into the major pollution by industry, not just in our country but around the world.  Look at China, wait, I can't see it for the pollution!  I think if this world really wants to do something about the carbon thingy, its that they'd better start big rather than small.  As usual, its the small guy that will again pay the price in the end, and that could be right up the ol wazzzooooo!  Me getting rid of the Mazda, the boat or the sled won't make a snowballs difference in hell for the planet, but that's where all the Gov't have chosen to start.  Why don't they overhaul the big polluters, the big industry giants who throw more crap into our environment than a kajillion Mazda's ever could.  Because its all politics, that's why!  Why do you think we're paying through the sphincter for gas, politics!  Why are we buying corn from the States, politics.  Why do we import apples from China and beef from New Zealand, politics.  If there were ever a country that could be self-sustaining AND still be a world leader in trade and/or resources, its Canada, but our Gov't chooses to do otherwise, and its us little guys that get screwed in the end.

Soooooooooo, the solution?  I have no idea, but what I do know, is that I will not quit enjoying life, its to short.  And, if in the process I've contributed to the demise of my grand kids future, then I apologize ahead of time, but we can't stop what is the inevitable.   The glaciers will continue to melt, I don't think they were ever intended to last forever, if they did, we'd still be in an ice age.  Our air will become more polluted, those big industries still have to produce what us consumers want.  Gas will always be on the rise and we will always pay whatever price is at the pump, we are vehicle hogs and the gas giants know this and our politicians will support them.  Our water will get more polluted, where do you think the air pollutants wind up when they plummet to earth, but we will still go fishing.  Just imagine the different species of fish we're gonna have from that pollution!  I'm still believe that our earth and its existence is nothing more than a cruel experiment being conducted by "others" (but then I believe in life on other planets as well!) who are much more advanced than us!  We are a mere smear on a glass slide under a microscope that is under constant scrutiny by "experts" who are in wonder at our stupidity!  We should be referred to more as a virus or bacteria, and the earth is our host.  As we infect the host, a temporary treatment "shows up" to stop the infection, but it fails.  As our host gets more sick, "other" ideas are implemented to find the cure, but it still fails.  And in the end, the host dies.  What a bleak outlook on life!!  I'd best get back out fishing and forget the carbon.  And, on the way out I'll stop by the Gov't liquor store and gas station and get rid of those fancy dancy cheques we just got!

If you want to read a real good letter that was sent to Al Gore about all this BS, click HERE and have a look at this!  Its a bit lengthy but well worth the read, and puts what I have said into more "expert" terms than I could ever come up with!  I'm afraid the wife and I have done all we can to "save the world", after all, we did move to Sicamous.  We don't have local transit to use but, we are using our bicycles 100 times more than we did before.  I only live 4 blocks from the boat launch rather than driving 4 miles.  We walk more than we drive around town and "out of town" trips are planned rather than just taken.  Lights are turned off that aren't needed, speeds down on the hwy (well, a bit anyways!), energy efficient windows, heating blah blah blah.  So, to whomever is looking through that microscope at our wee piece of paradise here in Sicamous, just remember that the Shermans' did what they could to keep the host alive, if only our Gov'ts aka politicians would do the same!   That's my hook set on it!
